Xayaboury: A Gateway to Western Laos
Xayaboury, located in the far west of Laos, borders Thailand and is well-known for its annual Elephant Festival, which celebrates the province’s deep ties to elephant conservation. Visitors can also explore picturesque landscapes and experience the province’s role as a key player in Laos' hydropower industry.
Historically, Xayaboury has been a significant area, having shifted hands between Thailand and French Indochina in the early 20th century. Today, it remains a central part of Laos, known for its unique cultural and political history.
Expanded Domestic Network
In addition to the new Xayaboury service, Laos Airlines continues to operate flights to several key domestic destinations, including Luang Prabang, Phongsaly, Pakse, Luang Namtha, Houaphanh, Oudomxay, and Xieng Khouang. The airline has also recently added an extra flight to its Vientiane-Pakse route, operating every Sunday morning.
