Phu Quoc has been ranked Asia's second-best island, surpassing Phuket and Penang, in Condé Nast Traveler's Readers' Choice Awards 2024.
Phu Quoc, Vietnam's largest island, has been ranked the second most beautiful island in Asia by readers of the prestigious American magazine Condé Nast Traveler, only behind Bali of Indonesia. The annual Readers' Choice Awards survey placed Thailand's Koh Samui third, with Phuket and Malaysia’s Penang securing the sixth and fifth spots, respectively.
The ranking is based on multiple factors, including cultural richness, local attractions, cuisine, and overall travel experience. Phu Quoc, known for its stunning sandy beaches and luxurious resorts, welcomed nearly 724,000 foreign tourists in the first nine months of 2024, marking a significant 56.5% increase compared to the previous year.
Tourism experts attribute this impressive growth to favorable visa policies, the arrival of internationally renowned hotel brands, and an expanding range of tourism offerings. Furthermore, Phu Quoc's popularity has been bolstered by visits from several Asian celebrities, which have helped raise the island’s profile on the global tourism scene.
More than 575,000 Condé Nast Traveler readers participated in the survey, offering insights into their travel experiences spanning cities, islands, hotels, resorts, cruise ships, spas, and airlines. The Readers' Choice Awards remain one of the travel industry’s most respected honors, celebrating outstanding destinations and travel services worldwide.
